Vorträge im EZS-Forum: Theresa Heyd am 14.1.2026

Am 14. Januar 2026 spricht Prof. Theresa Heyd vom Anglistischen Seminar der Uni Heidelberg im EZS-Forum. Der Vortrag „The pronouns of affect and affirmation“ beginnt um 18.15 Uhr im Raum 004 des Germanistischen Seminars (Karlstraße 2, 69117 Heidelberg). Der Vortrag findet auf Englisch statt und hat folgende Zielsetzung: Third person singular pronouns have become a central factor in gendered language and language about gender. They provide a means for speakers to do gender talk, including flagging their own gender identities and referring to others in gendered ways; at the same time, the very mention of pronouns has become politicized and provides pathways to antifeminist, homophobic and transphobic discourse about enregistered forms of “gender ideology”. Pronominal discourse of the 2020s provokes power and solidarity discourse in many ways, but these affective dimensions take on new and different social meanings in the gendered usage of pronouns. In this talk, Prof. Heyd explores pronominal practices of gender with a specific focus on forms of pronoun sharing online, as it is achieved through digital pronoun-wearing for example in social media profiles, email signatures and other instantiations of our digital bodies, arguing that it is insightful to understand digital pronouncing as a discursive practice of digital affect. Alle Interessierten sind herzlich eingeladen.
